Happy New Year and Contest Winners

明けましておめでとうございます, that's happy new year in Japanese, pronounced akemashiteomedetōgozaimasu - whew that's a mouthful!

It's common for families to head to their local shrine and/or temple to pray and receive their fortune for the new year. It's somewhat solemn but with a hint of festival glee. There are lots of food stands, seasonal treats, some games, and an assortment of trinkets. Many shops are closed, so if you're an unprepared tourist you could have trouble finding a nice open restaurant.

Ringing in 2016, we're excited that our first contest has closed and we thank everyone who participated, it was a close race but in the end the numbers speak for themselves.

With huge congratulations, we are pleased to announce that Brian B and Ellissa L of IL and GA respectively will be included in our January shipment of Big Candy Boxes. We hope that you enjoy the treasure trove that will soon be on its way and don't forget to share with your friends (if only the tale and not the sweets themselves).

For those that didn't make it this time, please stay tuned for our next contest.
